Merit Gold Review

While doing research into gold companies, I ran across some decent reviews on the Merit Gold and Silver business. These reviews talked about people who had been burned by other gold and silver companies in the past and had experienced little to no issues when they switched over to Merit Gold and Silver. However, after looking into it further, I ran across more bad than good.

On their website, Merit Gold and Silver proved to be very educational on matters of gold, gold IRA rollovers, and matters involving investments with precious metals. I found that they had been in business since the 1980’s and all their experience is definitely impressive.

To first impressions, they seem to be a reputable business. However, it wasn’t long before I discovered that the credentials and experience of the company was hiding their true intentions. A surprisingly high volume of negative reviews linked me to a few different websites where I discovered the truth.

Further research led me to various complaints from websites such as The Complaint Board, Ripoff Report, Business Consumer Alliance and I even checked their rating on the Better Business Bureau.

The Complaint Board

The Complaint Board is known to be a consumer driven site and not many things were listed about Merit Gold and Silver but one thing in particular caught my eye.

Apparently, a customer called Merit regarding an advertisement they had seen on the internet. Even though the customer had questions and simply wasn’t sure if he wanted the product, the sales associate on the phone talked the individual into buying a type of coin he wasn’t really interested in.

The customer was told he had seven days to return the product. After two weeks, the customer received the coins and discovered they were not worth the value advertised and wasn’t allowed to return them, with Merit stating that the seven days expired during the two weeks of shipping.

Business Consumer Alliance

Total Complaints: 70

The other sites I checked didn’t make me feel any better towards Merit Gold. The Business Consumer Alliance held a total of seventy complaints on Merit Gold and Silver.

Ripoff Report

Ripoff Report has several complaints registered since 2011. The majority of these complaints have the same basis. Including issues with shipping, and problems with customer support.

Better Business Bureau (BBB)

No rating whatsoever were listed on the Better Business Bureau.

Given the overwhelming number of complaints it did not seem wise for me to invest with Merit Gold and Silver. The highest rated and most reliable business I did find, was Regal Assets.
